In 2014, I won the title of Miss Tennessee National Teenager and went on to compete at nationals, placing 2nd runner up. Drawing from my experiences in pageantry, my goal was to demonstrate how the negative stereotypes of pageantry—the overt and easily-recognized pressure to always appear beautiful and accomplished—are actually realities women face daily.
